Murphy's

The rain was coming down in torrents as I sat in front of the Murphy's Oil Station bathroom, waiting...... "It seems to be taking Deb longer than usual," I thought, but didn't want to rush her. So I waited some more.....

Deb had asked me to stop so she could use the restroom. I parked in the downpour and walked her to the door while shielding her with an umbrella. She then asked me to wait in the car until she was ready to leave.

It must have been fifteen or twenty minutes that I had waited before finally getting out to see if Deb needed help. With the umbrella to shield me from the pouring rain I pulled the door open a crack and peeked in while asking, "Deb, are you ........ Ahahahaha?" My question was cut short by the sight that met my eyes.

When trying to ask the question a burst of laughter came out instead. Deb was lying on the muddy floor with her clothes in disarray, on her side, facing the door, with a huge smile on her face as her eyes met mine. She calmly said, "I need help."

You can imagine how tough it was to help Deb up while standing on the wet, slippery floor with us both laughing so hard. Every time we would be making progress, one of us would chuckle and that would make us start laughing again. So much laughter can make you weak and unable to lift, so down she would go again.

It took Deb and me a while to get her off the floor with all the laughter breaks we made. But thankfully she was fine.....

Deb is a real trooper to take the odd incidents and mishaps she has, see the humor in them,  and be able to laugh at herself. She has had such strength and courage amid the struggles life has thrown her way.
