I'm sitting here thinking, how great life can be.
Mine started back the winter that my Mom had me.
That lady with red hair and eyes so brown,
Had a baby with brown hair and eyes big and round.
So many memories, of which one I recall.
Eleven brothers and sisters, the big and the small
Lined up walking on Daddy's back, from his head to his toes.
How his strong back could stand this, I guess I'll never know.
One thing we didn't like, but needed real bad.
The lessons we learned from our Mom and Dad.
"Spare the rod, spoil the child," is what they would say.
With love and with lickings, they'd make us obey.
If I get quiet and listen, I believe I still hear,
The whole family singing, the voices so clear.
From bass up to tenor, the quiet and the loud,
We sang songs of Jesus, Mom and Dad were so proud.
Mom and Dad had a mission, they had souls to reach.
They gave their lives to their family, and to their calling to preach.
They taught us many lessons, all the sisters and brothers,
"You reap what you sow," and "Do unto others."
Through all of our memories, I know what I feel.
The love in our family, a love that's so real.
It's held us together, through good and through bad.
We owe all of this love, to our Mom and our Dad.
